How does house washing work?
Over time, render, weatherboard, brick and cladding collect mould, cobwebs, dust and pollution that a garden hose simply can't shift. Our house washing uses a low-pressure soft wash combined with the right cleaning solution to break all of that down and rinse it away, safely.
Because we never blast a home with high pressure, there's no risk of stripping paint, forcing water behind cladding, or damaging render. The surface decides the method, and for house exteriors that means gentle every time.
The result is an exterior that looks years younger, with mould and staining gone rather than just smeared around.
Soft wash house cleaning works for almost every exterior: painted and bare render, brick, weatherboard, fibre cement, Hardie board, vinyl and aluminium cladding. Eaves, fascias, gutters (outside), downpipes and window frames are washed at the same time, since that is where cobwebs and dirt collect first. Single storey and double storey homes are both done from the ground or with safe reach equipment, with no need for you to get on a ladder.
How often a house needs washing depends on where it sits. Shaded south-facing walls, homes under trees and coastal properties on the Northern Beaches or Eastern Suburbs usually need a wash every one to two years, while sunny inland homes can go longer. Is soft washing safe for painted render and cladding?
Yes. House washing uses low-pressure soft washing with the right cleaning solution, so there's no risk of stripping paint, forcing water behind cladding or damaging render: the grime is broken down and rinsed away gently.
Will it kill the mould or just wash it off?
Our soft-wash solution treats mould and mildew at the source rather than just blasting the surface, so it grows back much slower than it would after a plain pressure rinse.
How much does house washing cost in Sydney?
It depends on the size of the home, how many storeys it has, access and how much mould or grime has built up. A single storey home costs less than a large double storey. We give a free, fixed quote from a few photos or a quick visit, so you know the full price before we start.
What chemicals are used in a soft wash?
Soft washing uses a diluted cleaning solution that breaks down mould, mildew and dirt, followed by a thorough low-pressure rinse. The mix is adjusted to the surface, and gardens and plants are wet down and rinsed to protect them.
How often should a house be washed?
Every one to two years suits most Sydney homes. Shaded walls, homes under trees and coastal properties often need it more often because mould and salt build up faster.
Do you wash double storey houses?
Yes. Double storey and split-level homes are washed with safe reach equipment from the ground where possible, so the upper walls, eaves and gutters are cleaned without risk to you or the building.
How often should I have this done?
For most Sydney homes, every 12–18 months keeps mould and grime from taking hold, sooner for properties near the coast, under trees, or in damp, shaded spots. On an AW+ plan we track the timing for you so it never gets forgotten.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. As long as we can access the areas being cleaned and an outdoor tap, plenty of our residential jobs are done while you're out, we confirm everything beforehand and send photos when it's finished.

Yes, AW Pressure Washing is fully insured, and we're owner-operated, so the person who quotes your job is the person responsible for the result.

Yes. Quotes are free and fixed, you'll know the price before we start, with no hourly meter and no surprises on the invoice. A quick text with a couple of photos is usually all we need.

Whichever the surface needs. Hard surfaces like concrete driveways take high pressure; render, roofs, timber and painted surfaces get a low-pressure soft wash. We are trained in both and always match the method to the material.
