How does fences & decks work?
Timber fences, decks, pergolas and pool surrounds all collect mould and grey weathering over time. We clean them with a controlled approach that lifts the grime without furring or gouging the timber, over-pressuring wood raises the grain and ruins the finish, so care matters here.
Colorbond and metal fencing is washed down to remove the chalky oxidation and dirt that dulls the colour.
A cleaned deck is often the first step before re-oiling or staining, and we can advise on what your timber needs.
Deck cleaning covers hardwood, merbau, spotted gum, treated pine and composite decks, plus stairs, handrails and pool decks. Grey weathering, mould and black spotting are lifted with a gentle, controlled clean so the boards are not furred or splintered. Composite decking is cleaned with a low-pressure method suited to the material.
Fence cleaning covers timber paling, treated pine, hardwood, rendered and Colorbond fences, as well as gates and retaining walls. A clean fence or deck is often the first step before oiling or staining, which is best done by the owner or a specialist once the timber has dried. We clean only and do not oil, stain or seal. Will pressure cleaning damage or splinter my timber deck?
Timber gets a gentler, controlled clean, never the high pressure you'd use on concrete, so it lifts the grey weathering and grime without furring up or splintering the boards. Done right, the timber comes up ready for oiling if you choose to.
Can you clean Colorbond and timber fences too?
Yes. We clean Colorbond, treated pine, hardwood and rendered fences, matching the pressure to each so the finish comes up clean and even without stripping coatings or raising the grain.
Should a deck be cleaned before oiling or staining?
Yes. Oil and stain soak in and look far better on clean, dry timber. Let the deck dry fully after cleaning before any oil or stain goes on.
Can you clean composite decking?
Yes. Composite decks are cleaned at low pressure with a suitable solution to lift mould and grime without marking the surface.
How do you clean a Colorbond fence?
Colorbond fences are washed down at low pressure to remove dirt, mould and chalky build-up without scratching or stripping the coating.
How often should I have this done?
For most Sydney homes, every 12–18 months keeps mould and grime from taking hold, sooner for properties near the coast, under trees, or in damp, shaded spots. On an AW+ plan we track the timing for you so it never gets forgotten.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. As long as we can access the areas being cleaned and an outdoor tap, plenty of our residential jobs are done while you're out, we confirm everything beforehand and send photos when it's finished.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, AW Pressure Washing is fully insured, and we're owner-operated, so the person who quotes your job is the person responsible for the result.
Is the quote really free and fixed?
Yes. Quotes are free and fixed, you'll know the price before we start, with no hourly meter and no surprises on the invoice. A quick text with a couple of photos is usually all we need.
Pressure washing or soft washing: which will you use?
Whichever the surface needs. Hard surfaces like concrete driveways take high pressure; render, roofs, timber and painted surfaces get a low-pressure soft wash. We are trained in both and always match the method to the material.
