How does paver cleaning work?
Paved driveways, courtyards and walkways collect mould, moss and ground-in dirt between and across every paver. We clean brick, concrete and natural-stone pavers back to their original colour, including the grout and joint lines where grime hides.
Softer natural stones get a gentler approach while harder concrete pavers can handle more pressure, we match the method to the paver every time, so nothing gets etched, chipped or stripped.
A properly cleaned paved area is safer underfoot and looks dramatically better in a single visit.
Paver cleaning covers paved driveways, courtyards, pool surrounds, alfresco areas and paths. We clean clay brick, concrete, travertine, bluestone and sandstone pavers, with the pressure and treatment matched to each. Harder concrete and clay pavers can take a firmer clean, while natural stone gets a gentler, lower-pressure method so it is not etched or scarred.
Moss, weeds and black growth in the joints are cleared out along with the surface grime, and green, slippery pavers are treated so they grip again. You may see advice online about cleaning pavers with bleach, pool chlorine, vinegar or hydrochloric acid. Used wrongly these can burn stone, bleach colour and harm gardens, which is why the product and strength should always suit the paver. We clean pavers only and do not offer sealing or re-sanding.

Paver Cleaning, your questions answered
Will pressure cleaning wash out the sand between my pavers?
We clean at a pressure that lifts the grime while protecting the jointing sand where we can. Some sand loss is normal on any paver clean, so we'll let you know if yours would benefit from a top-up and re-sand afterwards.
Can you get weeds and moss out from between the pavers?
Yes. Cleaning clears the moss, weeds and the organic matter they root into from the joints, which slows how quickly they grow back compared with just pulling them out by hand.
Can I clean pavers with bleach or pool chlorine?
It can lighten organic growth, but the wrong strength can bleach colour, damage natural stone and harm nearby plants. Acids like hydrochloric can etch pavers badly. A professional clean uses a product and strength suited to the paver type.
Do you seal pavers after cleaning?
No. We clean pavers only. If you plan to have them sealed by a specialist, a thorough clean first gives the best result.
Can you clean travertine and natural stone pavers?
Yes. Travertine, sandstone and bluestone are cleaned with a gentler, lower-pressure method so the stone is not etched, pitted or scarred.
How often should pavers be cleaned?
Every one to two years suits most paved areas. Shaded courtyards and pool surrounds often need it more often because moss and algae return faster.
How often should I have this done?
For most Sydney homes, every 12–18 months keeps mould and grime from taking hold, sooner for properties near the coast, under trees, or in damp, shaded spots. On an AW+ plan we track the timing for you so it never gets forgotten.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. As long as we can access the areas being cleaned and an outdoor tap, plenty of our residential jobs are done while you're out, we confirm everything beforehand and send photos when it's finished.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, AW Pressure Washing is fully insured, and we're owner-operated, so the person who quotes your job is the person responsible for the result.
Is the quote really free and fixed?
Yes. Quotes are free and fixed, you'll know the price before we start, with no hourly meter and no surprises on the invoice. A quick text with a couple of photos is usually all we need.
Pressure washing or soft washing: which will you use?
Whichever the surface needs. Hard surfaces like concrete driveways take high pressure; render, roofs, timber and painted surfaces get a low-pressure soft wash. We are trained in both and always match the method to the material.
