How does patio cleaning work?
Patios and alfresco areas are where mould and grime show up worst, especially on the shaded side of a property. We clean sandstone, travertine, brick and concrete patios back to their original colour. The difference is often dramatic.
Each surface is treated according to what it can handle: softer natural stones get a gentler approach, while hard concrete can take more pressure. We match the method to the material every time.
We clean the whole outdoor area, not just the ground. Pergolas, posts, beams and outdoor walls get a low-pressure soft wash to lift mould, cobwebs and bird droppings, and timber is treated gently so it isn't damaged.
Outdoor entertaining areas become genuinely usable again once the slip-causing mould and ground-in dirt is gone.

Can you clean a patio without damaging the pavers or grout?
Yes. We match the pressure and method to the surface, using a flat surface cleaner for an even finish and softer settings around jointing sand and grout so nothing gets blown out. If anything needs re-sanding afterwards, we'll flag it before we start.
Do you clean pergolas as well as the patio?
Yes. We soft wash pergola posts, beams and roofing to remove mould, cobwebs, dust and bird droppings, then clean the patio underneath so the whole outdoor area is done in one visit. Timber pergolas get a gentle, low-pressure wash so the wood isn't furred or damaged.
Will cleaning bring my patio back if it's gone green and slippery?
That green film is algae and mould, and it's exactly what we treat. Once it's cleaned off, the surface grips properly again, so the patio is far safer underfoot, not just better looking.
How much does patio cleaning cost?
It depends on the size, surface, access and how much mould or grease there is. You get a free, fixed quote from photos or a quick visit before any work starts.
Can you remove grease from a BBQ area?
Yes. BBQ and outdoor kitchen areas are pre-treated to break down grease and food staining before cleaning, so the marks lift rather than spread.
How often should I have this done?
For most Sydney homes, every 12–18 months keeps mould and grime from taking hold, sooner for properties near the coast, under trees, or in damp, shaded spots. On an AW+ plan we track the timing for you so it never gets forgotten.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. As long as we can access the areas being cleaned and an outdoor tap, plenty of our residential jobs are done while you're out, we confirm everything beforehand and send photos when it's finished.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, AW Pressure Washing is fully insured, and we're owner-operated, so the person who quotes your job is the person responsible for the result.
Is the quote really free and fixed?
Yes. Quotes are free and fixed, you'll know the price before we start, with no hourly meter and no surprises on the invoice. A quick text with a couple of photos is usually all we need.
Pressure washing or soft washing: which will you use?
Whichever the surface needs. Hard surfaces like concrete driveways take high pressure; render, roofs, timber and painted surfaces get a low-pressure soft wash. We are trained in both and always match the method to the material.
